Classic route Mongolia

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. After some relax, we will start our city tour from Sukhbaatar square. Sukhbaatar square is the public square at the heart of capital. Surrounding buildings include the Parliament House, National Opera Theatre, Cultural Palace and House of City Council. We will visit the Natural History Museum which is well-known for its precious findings such as dinosaur eggs and bones.

Day 2: In the morning start tour to the Baga Gazryn Chuluu. On the way we will have lunch at the Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain. This is a white stoned holly mountain with wild animals, such as wolves, ibexes, gazelles, wild sheep, ect.  
Day 3: After having breakfast drive to South Gobi. We will drive to enjoy the incredible "Yol Valley". The valley is an unusual narrow canyon with a river that flows through the Zuun Saikhan Mountain. The sheer rock walls stand 200m and the canyon has stunning green meadows with a thick glacier layer that is deeply set between the walls. During the summer rainfall, water runs from the top of the walls forming waterfalls. We will trek along the canyon and may get a glimpse of rarely seen Argali wild sheep, Ibex mountain goat and Yol Lammergeier.
Day 4: Early in the morning we will explore the valley. In the afternoon we will start tour to magnificent Khongoriin Els sand dunes that stretch for an extraordinary 180 km, are sometimes as wide as 7-20km. The intense sound of wind-blown sand can be heard from long distances. This sound is so melodic that 200m high sand dunes are called "Singing Dunes". There is an oasis called Khongor with stunning greenery in the summer.

Day 5: Stay at the dunes. Today we will visit nomadic family and enjoy their daily life.  Here you will have an opportunity to ride two humped Bacterian camels. Sun rise and sun set from the dunes will be most unforgettable memory.  
Day 6: Driving through semi-desert landscape to the famous Flaming Cliffs - Bayanzag. It’s an introduction to Mongolian paleontology. Drive around the flaming cliffs towards undulating sand dunes. It is an oasis-like formation with green vegetation predominantly of saxaul trees and poplar.  
Day 7: After having breakfast start driving to Ongi Monatery. This small mountainous area along the Ongiin gol in the western sum of Saikhan Ovoo makes a pleasant place to break a trip between southern Gobi and Ulaanbaatar. The bend in the river marks the remains of two ruined monasteries, the Barlim Khiid on the north bank, and the Khutagt Khiid on the south.  
Day 8: In the morning we will start driving to magnificent waterfall. We will visit the picturesque Orkhon waterfall which is situated in the Orkhon River, Mongolia's longest river at 1120km. The local name of the waterfall is Ulaan Tsutgalan and the height is 24m. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20 000 years ago.  

Day 9: Drive to Kharkhorin ancient capital city of Mongolia. We will have a full day of excursions around Kharkhorin, the ancient Capital of Great Mongolian Empire and Erdenezuu Monastery, main treasure of Mongolian Buddhism. Kharkhorin was established in the valley of the Orkhon river in 1220. It was one of the stops along the legendary Silk Road for 140 years. Kharkhorin played significant role in Mongolian history. It was the capital city of the Mongolian Great Empire until Khubilai Khaan, a grandson of Chinggis Khaan, moved the capital to Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty. For almost 800 years, people worship the Turtle Rock near the temple. Erdenezuu Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia was founded by Avtai Sain Khaan, a descendant of Chinggis Khaan, on the ruins of Kharkhorin in 1586. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful white walls with 108 stupas. For centuries it was a spiritual and intellectual centre of Mongolia. There is an extraordinary collection of Buddhist paintings, priceless religious objects, special costumes for Tsama religious dance and superb Buddhist iconography in true Mongolian and Tibetan style.  
Day 10: Drive to Tsenkher hot spa, a sulphur spring that emerges from the ground at 85 degrees Celsius. Have a relaxing hot spa bath in a swimming pool under eternal blue sky.  

Day 11: We will arrive in Khorgo Volcano in the late afternoon. Khorgo Volcano (2100 metres) is located on the east shore of Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. From its Ovoo (pile of rocks usually located on the peak of hill) covered summit, there is a splendid view of the whole region and the lake. The lake is about 20 km long and was formed when volcanic lava dammed the Suman River.

Day 12: Stay around the lake. Enjoy your time for walking, swimming, or yak riding.  

Day 13: Drive toward Khuvsgul Lake. On the way we will stop for overnight around Murun city.  
Day 14: Khuvsgul lake, the second largest freshwater lake in Central Asia with over one percent of the world's freshwater and a maximum depth of 262m. This gorgeous lake is fed by ninety six rivers and streams, but only Egiin River flows out from the lake, joining the Selenge River on the way to the Lake Baikal. The Khuvsgul lake is inhabited by nine species of fish, while the nearby taiga forest, forest steppe, and mountains provide habitat for 68 species of mammals, including argali, ibex, elk, reindeer, musk deer, brown bear, lynx, marten, beaver, wolf and moose as well as 244 species of birds and 750 species of plants. The lake is surrounded by dozens of stunning mountains, thick pine forests and lush meadows with grazing yaks and horses.
Day 15: In the morning, we will hike in the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look of the crystal blue lake. Horse back riding around the shores is breathtaking. In the afternoon, we will ride up north to visit Reindeer village where we can see Tsaatan, reindeer breeders' unique everyday life, traditional tent dwelling “Urts” and herds of reindeers.

Day 16: Stay around the lake. Free at leisure.  

Day 17: Drive to Bulgan province. The most of the province is green with thick forests and magnificent pastures.  Agriculture is facilitated by the presence of fertile soils, wide valleys and low mountains and gentle slops.   
Day 18: Drive to Amarbaysagalant monastery. The Monastery of Tranquil Felicity, once one of the three largest Buddhist centers in Mongolia, is located near the Selenge River. The Monastery was built in 1736 by Zanabazar, the first Bogd Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, a religious and cultural leader. Unlike other monasteries Amarbayasgalant shows great class of style. The overall design is Chinese despite some Mongolian and Tibetan influence. Amarbayasgalant monastery is two storey building covering an area of 87 hectares. In the early 1900s, the 8000 monks practiced Buddhist philosophy, astrology and medicine. In 1937, all high ranked monks, religious leaders and intellectuals were executed.  
Day 19: In the morning drive to Ulaanbaatar. The rest of the afternoon is for you to complete last minute shopping and exploring the city. In the evening, we will enjoy Mongolian traditional folklore concert. Farewell dinner hosted by our company.

Day 20:  Your guide and driver will transfer you.
